Don’t ignore the basics
A car is indeed a complex machine and it does require a great deal of skill, knowledge and expertise to maintain the vehicle. As a car owner, you will benefit from basic knowledge about car maintenance like checking your oil, tyres and coolant levels, knowing when to bring your car in for routine services, brake checking etc. Don’t ignore them and think you can keep driving safely. If you are not sure how to check these things, ask your local service centre to show you how. You may find that a lot of places are happy to do this for you free of charge. Ultimately it is you who is responsible for your car’s maintenance and therefore it is a must for you to remain updated about all the basics of car repair services.
Don’t ignore the engine light
Never think that your engine light holds no relevance and don’t ignore it when it comes on. Most of us think that this might be a ploy by the dealership to make you bring in the car for servicing, however when your engine light comes on there is something wrong with the engine management system. These faults can be a minor emissions related fault or it can be pinting to something more serious occurring which may cause the car to breakdown.
Don’t ignore routine maintenance
Now this one is surely the most important of all. Don’t ever neglect your routine car maintenance. You may find it a little inconvenient to schedule your car for regular check-ups but this will ultimately save your valuable time and money. Routine services prevent the need for expensive, more major and time consuming repairs and replacements.
